Content Optimization
Content Optimization is the process of improving contents in a webpage so that it gets easily discoverable by the users. Optimization should be done as per Search Engine Optimization(SEO) techniques. A well written and optimized content will help the website to rise on top of the Search engine Result page(SERP).
Here, I will be discussing an effective method which I use to SEO the content of the web pages.
Content should be Unique and User Friendly
The content that you write should be original, clear and easily understandable by the readers. Do not copy the content from any other websites or blogs, as search engine's crawler rate original content high and can penalize website for copying and posting contents.
Content Should be more than 600 Words
Google panda algorithm update punishes websites with thin content. The content that you write should be able to answer queries of the visitors. Websites with thin content are considered as low quality and do not offer any value to search engines.
Break your Paragraph after every 4 and half or 5 and half lines
Long paragraphs usually bore the readers. Keep short paragraphs as it will ease the users to read the content. Short paragraphs will also help readers to easily discover the focused keywords.Write your title 3 times in first 300 words
Your title should contain the most important keyword. Mention your long tail keyword three times in the first 300 words of your content. This will help the crawler to know which keyword you are focusing on. Do not try to stuff the keyword in every sentence. You may use the keywords included in meta title and meta description in the rest of the text.
Bold, Italic and Underline title in the content
Use of Bold, Italic and underline will allow the readers to read easily and focus on the keywords. This also improves their user experience and they will easily get engaged with your content.
Use keywords to give headings
Including Keywords in heading will give a message about the subject of the content. This also helps the crawler in determining the keywords. Always ensure that the content is lined up with the title and the heading of the page. If the content under the title and heading does not match then the visitors may leave quickly, which increases the bounce rate and tells the Search Engines that the page is of low quality.
Use Header tags
Header tags are one of the main part of On Page SEO Techniques. Header tags are used to display the Headings In the posts. Header tags are of 6 types <h1>, <h2>,<h3>,<h4>,<h5>, and <h6>. <h1> tag is the largest of all, while <h6> tag is the smallest. Using target keywords in header tags will increase Search Engine Visibility for your target keyword.
<h1> Your text here </h1>
Write the title in H1 tag
Use H2 and H3 tags for Headings and Subheadings
Note: H4,H5 and H6 tags are rarely used due to their small font size. I would recommend not to use H4, H5 and H6 Tags.
Keyword density should be between 2% to 3%
Keyword density has a direct impact on the visibility of your website on the SERP. Keyword density is the number of times a keyword appears in the content of the webpage. Even though there is no ideal percentage of keyword density that should be maintained, I would recommend keeping the density in between 2% - 3%. Over use of Keywords leads to Keyword stuffing.Check for content duplicacy
Always check that the content that you have written for your post is found nowhere else on the internet. Some of the sentences that you have written may already appear on the internet. If this happens, then it may cause content duplicacy which leads to traffic losses and it also impacts search Engine rankings. You can check for Duplicate contents by using tools from copyspace.com or duplichecker.com
This process can be used as a starting point to meet your content marketing objectives. Just remember that no matter what process you adopt, you are trying to improve the quality of your content and produce more results out of it.
